I love a good whistlin’ tune.
CANT - DREAMS COME TRUE
FINALLY Chris Taylor of Grizzly Bear has made his solo project available. Time to get my good speakers out and listen hard. I’ll report back tomorrow! Excite.
Big Things - Fiction
Big things, giant things, sinking with gravity, landing with paper wings. Don’t judge the song by it’s first one and half minute, but wait for possibly the most pleasant guitar rift of 2011. The video features some of the strangest dancing I’ve ever seen. So strange they deserve a reward for their creativity. Recognise it? Make you wanna buy a £10,500 car? Me too, I believe it’s made famous by a Fiesta advert. Grosse Dingen (Big things)
I used to enjoy Ms Dynamite for the novelty of Ms Dynamite. For the joke that is ‘Ms Dynamit-e-ee’. Then came the ‘Wile Out’ era. Wile Out I liked, Neva Soft I love. I genuinely think it’s the best song in the charts at the moment and is good enough a reason as any to start a woman crush. Plus she looks amazing. I needs me a Dynamite gig seeings ja.
Sweet little piano under a sound rap. Simple.
My dude Olu is one of the best up and coming rappers out there…http://www.facebook.com/OluDoIt

THE BELINDA BUTCHERS - HALF OPEN
Lovely.
yvynl:
Keeping creative momentum is not an easy thing for artists. To create one catchy hit after another is an impressive feat that anyone can be proud of. When rad bands I love send me new music I almost always hold my breath. Here, a huge exhale and sigh of relief. Stoked to hear another gorgeous dreamgaze pop gem from this duo from San Francisco.
This stunning single represents beko_93 on that always-excllent digital singles label from France, Beko DSL. Don’t miss the B-side Seafoam Green.

Tom Vek - Leisure Seizure
Aroused. I’m not saying anything other than that’s the title of the song from TV’s latest album, Leisure Seizure. And what an album. If you, like me, were awaiting his new material for a while than I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. What’s he been doing? Apparently making cameo appearances on The O.C… I must have missed that. Leisure Seizure is a little braver than his debut, which is in no way a bad thing, for what he does with music overcomes his questionable vocal ability. Nichts fuer ungut! (no offence!)
Oh, and it would be unfair not to comment on how nice the video is. Congratulations to the director, Saam Farahmand.
So I found myself a good secret I’m willing to share.
We still don’t know who the band is, but this new dreamy video for the lead single from their debut ▲ EP was directed by Brendan Canty, the man behind Feel Good Lost in Cork, Ireland. But, maybe let’s just hope the musicians can stay behind their curtain for just a bit longer.

Dirt - Tobacco feat. Aesop Rock I may not be addicted to cigarettes, but I’ve loved Tobacco for years. Their 2008 album ‘Fucked Up Friends’ is well worth a re-visit. Certified weird band, I feel almost perverse listening to their music, especially when I think back to seeing their music video for Truck Sweat (I think), which features overly provocative, in season, aliens. I really do wish they would release some new material.
Future Islands - Balance
I was absolutely infatuated with 2010’s In Evening Air LP - among the most listened-to vinyl in my living room - but the last string of singles I’ve heard have been somewhat disappointing. Until this one. Back on track and as strong as ever. Love it.
Me too man, me too.
